My dads family lives in and around Dunklin County, Mo., but I just recently found out that those ancestors came from Gibson County Tn., and before that somewhere in Alabama. My great grandfather was James S. Parker who married a Rosa, and not sure of her maiden name. James S. Parker had a sister named Quince Elizabeth Parker. Previous to them was a James F. Parker and a Mary Ann Blankenship(Blankinship). That is all I know at the moment, but hope it helps someway.

Well I don't have much, but can give you some names, and see if that helps. Barbara, thanks so much for your reply. I remember Jacqueline's name being on some of the papers I had printed out about the Goode family. She had transcribed the application, I believe.
Would you happen to have any pictures of any of the family? I found Rosley's pic online and saved it to my computer. I have a picture of Henry Macon Westbrook, if you want to see it...He was married to Queenie Easter Goode, sister of Rosley and Palona. We don't have a pic of Easter or any of her sisters or brothers. I can send you Henry's pic on email. My email is rubywooten@yahoo.com.Just send me your email address.I will also send you a link to the Civil War pension for Martha. It includes the names James C. Goode and his regiment in the service, Martha Canady, W.O. Hopper (witness), J.H. Brook(s) (witness). Thanks again for your message. ~Ruby

Ruby I have been going through some of my papers I do know about the pension I never have recieved a copy of the pension but I do have a letter from a Morris who was the ordinary for Banks Co. And it looks like they did take care of Palona at some point. Jacqueline King who has passed. done so much work for me on my Parker line. I owe it all to her. She did check the National Archives online and Polona Made no application for Cherokee Monies like her sister. Rosley did.
Four years ago we worked on Katrina and took a trip over to Banks. I found where all my Parkers were from. The place is Called Apple Pie Ridge. beautiful country which is now a real estate development. My mother Eva Lois Parker is still living in Texarkana she is 90 yrs old. but she knows very little about her family she was the baby out of 5children.

Hello Barbara, I am an ancestor of James Carmel Goode and Martha Canady or Kanady and I noticed some comments about them.I have found an online pension application for Martha on a state of Georgia site. Have you seen that?? Also, have you ever heard of any Native American through either of these lines? I would like to find out all I can about them. One of their daughters was Queenie Easter Goode who married Henry Macon Westbrook. Queenie Easter and Henry would be my great grandparents. Just about all my family on this side came from Banks County Ga. My daddy was Lonnie Arthur Mize, who was the son of Spart Watson Mize and Monia Inell Westbrook. My daddy (who has been gone since 99) told us that he remembered when a lot of his family moved from Banks County to Anderson SC. That's where I live now. Thanks so much for your time. Hope to hear from you.

Do you have any brothers of your James C. Goode, a time, or a place in N.C.? There are several James Goode's in N.C. at various times. The name Campbell is a very common family name.

I'm at work but will look for your Goode in the book, Virginia Cousins. If he is in the book, it will give you information on your family back to England. There apparantly was one John Goode who came to America and settled near Richmond, VA, that everyone is related to. His progeny went "everywhere." My gggrandmother was Jane Campbell Goode and a gggrandfather was a John Goode. The original John Goode was married twice and one of my lines comes from him and his first wife and the other comes from him and his second wife. We had a hard time finding the link to this family on Jane Campbell Goode's side, but finally did. My Parker side was not related to the Goode's until my grandmother (the Goode line) married a Parker. It's the Parker line that I'm trying to find. Our Joseph R. Parker left his wife and supposedly went to East Texas. She claimed to be a widow but in 1900 you didn't admit to divorce or desertion. I'll check tonight and email you the information. Doris Knudson

It's interesting that you have Goodes in your Parker family. My dad's family has Goodes on his mother's side. Have you seen Virginia Cousins by G. B. Goode? It traces the family from England through Barbados to VA. I finally tied two lines to this book.
