James, thanks for the comment. My grandmother had her first stroke when I was 5 years old so I really don't remember her as a vibrant woman. I have very vague early memory of staying overnight when I was very small and her cooking. It always made mama feel badly that we did not know her mother as we knew and loved our daddy's parents (from Palestine).

I can only go back as far as my paternal grandfather and great uncle: they were Horace and Grady Kennedy respectively. I don't know their mothers or fathers names. Horace married my grandmother in Waco, but he died when my father was in college.

James,

I checked the other site MSN,(654 messanges on the general and 173 on the genealogy), and did not find any comment you made about that photo being of your granfathers grave posted on my picture site, (And I said only that I thought it was the grave of Tonarcy due to my earlier explainations about the head stone). Nor did I find any indication I was offering any pictures for sale of the cemetery!

And the reason I used Hailed Quanah Robert on the other sit was I look alot like Quanah from head on from what I have been told by my friends, and Mary said that was fine.

Sorry, that I thought your grandfather's grave might contain the remains of an Indian woman!

Thanks,

Robert

James,

And what you don't know is that I had talked to my friend the County Judge of Anderson County, Texas at that time, (Judge McKenny), that if I found the grave of Tonarcy there and could prove it and no one objected could I have her remains transported to a freindlier place nearer to Quanah, if space in OK was available . He said he would help if I had all of the correct paper work.

Thanks,

Robert

James,

Additionaly the grave marker, (in it's deteriorated state), appears to said Ma Parker and I took it to be a euphemism for a woman. And not a happy one, as the article said Tonarcy was miss treated and made unhappy by the white relitives of her mother in law's family her went to live with in that area after Quanah died!

When I locate that book I will surely apprise you of it's contents! And just what other sites have you found me on besides these two Quanah sites?

I have been ask if there is a listing of all of the Parkers buried in this location, perhaps you can provide it to the group!

Thanks,

Robert

James,

Thanks for clearing up for me just whose grave that was. As the head stone seemed to fit what would have been Tonarcy's feelings as to whom she spent her last days with, the Parker family there, after she killed Quanah as one source I read wrote that she did. And no I never saw your comment or believe me I would have responded! The rubbing I got from the head stone said" I have gone to a brigther place, where you can not come"

But, as Jim Bob Parker,(I believe that was his name, president of a local bank in Elkert), told me over the phone when I spoke with him, "There an't no Indians buried in that cemetary". When I was asking him about the possible location of Tonarcy's grave in that cemetary. And he is the same man that hugged my friend Pat at the Parker reunion there one year when she was in full Indian dress and said" I thought we got rid of you years ago"!!!

And no I wasn't selling pictures of the cemetary, but of my sky's and sun sets!!!

I just sent Mary $25.00 to keep this site going, will you match that!
