Preservation and Celebration of the Parker Family History & Genealogy

I added more info on 'my page' regarding my search for Elijah 'Eli' Parker.  Haven't really learned to navigate this site properly.  The info that I have been able to gather states that Elijah Eli Parker was born in Green Co., GA. in 1917.  He married my gggrandmother, Sarah Miriam Sasser b. 12 Mar 1822 (dau of Jesse Byrd Sasser and Martha Holley).  I have a lot on the Sassers and Holley's.  However, those Parker's have been very elusive! Brick Wall

I have researched the Elijah W. Parker but there doesn't seem to be a connection as far as I can tell.  As I mentioned in my comment yesterday, the 1980 census shows Eli Parker as being in Rose Hill, AL working for wages for his nephew Bartla Parker.  Some show him as having died in 1862 (NOT SO)!

I have not found a date of death for him although I did find the grave of his wife, Sarah Miriam Sasser Parker in the Sasser cemetery.  Thanks again, Mr. McMillen for your help.  It is very much appreciated.  Rosalyn

Thank you Mr. McMillen for your reply.  I, too have found these ancestors in Alabama.  I found the grave of Sarah Miriam Sasser Parker in the Sasser cemetery, however no sign of Elijah Eli Parker.  In the 1880 census Sarah Miriam is in Leon, Crenshaw Co., AL with her too youngest children W. G. (Green) and J. H. (John).  She is shown as a widow.  Eli Parker is over in Rose Hill, Covington Co., AL working for his nephew.  He is also shown as widowed.  It is believed that Needham Parker is Elijah's father.  My information has been obtained through and findagrave, along with visiting several cemeteries in Covington and Crenshaw Counties in Alabama.  Thanks again for your help.  I will continue to search.  Rosalyn

I found your Sassers and Danley's in Brantley, Crenshaw County, Alabama: Jesse Byrd Sasser and Celia Ann Danley with children: Addie Elizabeth Sasser m. Taylor, Hick Hurbert Sasser, Jep Hillard Sasser, Dennis Gilland Sasser m. Alice. Found Charles and Mary Danley with children Celia Ann and William. I checked Greene County, Georgia but didn't find anything on Elijah Parker.
